Margaret Lucas-Hill, the founder of Lucas-Hill Art & Design, was educated in graphic design at the London College of Printing, London, England. She worked in advertising, gaining studio and business experience, and earned her MA in Art in Education from the University of London. After her children were born, she taught art in secondary school. She moved to northern California in 1993 where she has continued to pursue her career as an artist.

Her artwork focuses on silk painting and which is presented as framed fine art as well as applied to decorative accessories. She is a founding member and currently secretary of the Lamorinda Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization which promotes the arts in the community and supports local artists. She was also a founding member of the Lafayette Art Gallery, a local cooperative art gallery, and currently manager of the Diablo Fine Arts Gallery in Walnut Creek, California.
